Blessing of a Skinned Knee Parent Workshop

Blessing of a Skinned Knee Book Cover

Join us for 1, 2 or all 3 interactive sessions for parents of pre-school age children, based on the best-selling book The Blessing of a Skinned Knee by Wendy Mogul, Ph.D.

In the sessions, we will discuss Dr. Mogel’s model of using Jewish teachings to raise self-reliant children. Participants will be asked to read a selected chapter or two before each session. Each session is welcoming and builds community among participants. Sessions include discussion, facilitated activities and teaching. Sessions are sensitive to parents raising children in interfaith families, but all parents are welcome.

The class is being taught by Tami Astorino, M.Ed. Tami has over twenty years’ experience facilitating parent workshops. She combines her background in counseling and positive youth development with her experience with interfaith families to create workshops that are welcoming and empowering. Tami presents nationally on a variety of topics including child and adolescent development, self-esteem and Jewish identity.

The workshop will meet at Main Line Reform Temple on Wednesday mornings Sept. 21, Oct. 19, and Nov. 9, 2016 from 9:15-10:30 am. The workshop is open to the public.

This workshop is co-sponsored by InterfaithFamily/Philadelphia and Main Line Reform Temple School for Early Childhood Education.

There is no charge for the class. Registration is requested but drop ins are welcome.

Participants are encouraged to attend all 3 sessions, but if you can only attend one or two you’re still welcome (and should register). Participants are asked to get their own books and read the following
chapters before each session:

  • Session 1, 9/21 - Chapters 1 and 2
  • Session 2, 10/19 - Chapters 4 and 7
  • Session 3, 11/9 - Chapters 8 and 9
